MENTORING

South Shropshire County Council Tate and Liverpool approached me to mentor artists they were working with. I am also currently mentoring a young artist through Rising Arts Agency, Bristol.

In dialogue with the artists involved, I devised mentoring sessions tailored to suit their individual needs. As well as mapping their current practice I encouraged them to articulate what they would like to be doing in five years time and enabled them to identify the steps they need to take in order to achieve their goals. I was careful to encourage them to realise what action they were already taking. The sessions also involved meetings with a range of arts organisations to research how they work with artists and audiences as well as practical advice about how to plan and manage working as a freelancer.
